About Me
The Honest Lawyer .........
I qualified as a Barrister in 1998 and was called to the Bar of Lincoln's Inn in 1999. I worked for the Reyrolle organisation (now Siemens plc) as a Commercial and Corporate Legal Advisor for 8 years based in Tyne & Wear and I also supported the Board of Directors as Company Secretary for some 6 years. At the point of leaving the organisation I sat on the Executive Management Board for Siemens Transmission and Distribution Limited.
The role of in-house lawyer was hugely varied and required a real understanding of the business and the market place. I prided myself on having this thorough understanding however due to organisational changes in the latter years, the position became more formalised akin to a law firm structure which restricted this hands-on approach.
I established Confidence when I realised that my strengths and passion rest with helping businesses by becoming really embroiled from the bottom layer to the top and not by occupying a desk where the involvement was narrow and high level.
I have a number of non-executive Directorships offering guidance to businesses from all sectors and at all stages of development; I act as a sounding board for new business ideas and future planning. My voluntary role as a Business Mentor through the TEDCO organisation in South Tyneside is a further extension of this sounding board philosophy. I am also a commercial consultant to a Newcastle law firm.
